The Vineyard Manual

This technical manual was originally compiled in 1993 in response to requests from grape growers in Sonoma County, California, for technical information regarding vineyard development and environmentally sound practices. It was the growers' consensus that a manual outlining basic standards and guidelines for good vineyard management practices was needed and would be beneficial to all grape growers.

The “Vineyard Manual” is revised and updated and full of valuable technical guidance. The engineering standards and specifications serve as the basis of current, adopted “Best Management Practices” used by many federal, state and local agencies throughout the country, including revised standards and specifications NRCS. A wide array of practical topics are presented, which include:

LAND PREPARATION
VINEYARD PLANTING & MAINTENANCE
FENCING
WETLANDS
IRRIGATION
SOIL BIOENGINEERING
WILDLIFE HABITAT MANAGEMENT
LOCAL AGENCY INFO/CONTACTS
EROSION CONTROL
PEST MANAGEMENT
